HEY! YAY! It finally hasn't been a million years since I've last posted! I actually have had this post semi-ready since the last post, and sort of stewing in the back of my mind for a while, but never got around to it. But FINALLY, FINALLY I've got to it!
Like most Teen Bloggers (yes, this is a proper noun now)/Rookies, I am OBSESSED with Meadham Kirchhoff. I think one of the hardest thing about being this German designer duo's fan is learning to spell that name. Are there two R's? Which has the double letters? Which letters are they? To avoid embarrassment, I suggest carrying a smartphone around at all times in order to do a covert spell check whenever needed. Worse, though, is pronunciation. You can't search up pronunciation on your iPhone and easily listen to it before answering a "Who is your favourite designer?" and you end up spluttering "um...uh...meed-ham-kirk-shoff?" and receive a forced smile as the question-er backs away to find more adequately informed folks.
Luckily, I've found this youtube channel, which has helped me immensely in the world of internet exploring and difficult foreign fashion designer's names. Listen to the below video a few times and commit the name to memory. This way, you'll never be in the sticky situation of having to answer about your favourite designer in REAL LIFE and just blurting out "Alexander McQueen", to avoid the embarrassment of mispronunciation.
But
liking loving being obsessed with Meadham Kirchhoff is a whole lot more than blush-enducing pronunciation mistakes. I actually drool every time I see their amazing collections. When Rookie does little "behind the scenes of Meadham Kirchhoff's shows".. I'm going to be honest, I pee myself a little. Their collections (especially those in the last few years) are amazingly beautiful and intricate, and make me believe for sure that fashion is an art form.
When I saw this video on their website, tears were shed. I am so inspired and awed by Meadham Kirchhoff's existence, that basically everything they do brings me to an emotional paroxysm.
Anyway, here are some of my favourites of their pieces. There's some from 2010 until the present. Their work really is amazing, I hope it inspires you as much as it inspires me:
