AP ART IS ALMOST OVER

I'm sorry I've been so absent lately, honestly this class is a huge reason why. I feel guilty if I do other things instead of AP Art (and then I end up getting nothing done--it's a vicious cycle) Luckily it's almost over, and I'm actually really proud of what I've created so far.
This is half of my concentration--my favourite pieces that I could hang up. I think I've posted most of these before, but there are a few new ones...
~~
I can't believe I'm almost done, honestly it seems so crazy. Like this show is something I've been looking forward to for so long, and it's over? And in less than a month, I'll be done with my entire Concentration (hopefully...I'm running a bit behind). Pretty soon after that I'll be going to prom?? And then I'll graduate??? And then I'm going to college???? I don't understand how this year flew by so quickly. I wish it would just slow down a little--I hardly have a moment to appreciate high school and teenage-dom before it's all going to be gone.
~~
For those of you who are interested, here's my un-edited concentration statement:

My concentration is twelve shrines to people I view as Saints. They are not Saints in the conventional sense that they are flawless, holy, or even necessarily virtuous, but rather that they are people I look up to, who also take care of and love me, in the way that Saints do when you pray to them.
Inspired by the traditional Day of the Dead alters, each of these pieces has shrine-like imagery with candles, flowers, shells or other offerings--depending on the person's interests/personality. The alters represent both the person depicted in it as well as the relationship I have with that person. For example, in the piece of my cousin Ava (the pink one), the outside is a representation of how we connect today through Rookie, photography, clothes, and glitter, while the inside of each drawer holds representations of our childhood together with sand from Vashon, the island where my grandparents own a house, and where we really got to know each other as kids, a wish rock, and a letter written from Seattle to California. Each piece strives to embody the friend or family member in the way I see them through the connection I've had or have with them.

(more coming soon I have, like, half a post ready)
